Beautiful stippling detail... very delicate.

Artist's Description

Here is a grouping of bloodroot flowers, drawn this spring when the bloodroot was blooming in my backyard, Bloodroot is a very shy and cautious plant. The leaves wrap protectively around the stem, even when the flower is open. After the petals fall, the leaf opens up and grows again to twice the size that it was. This is drawn with graphite pencil on Arches hot press paper.
